In 1969, 21-year-old Hillary Clinton gave a beautiful commencement speech. Now we can listen to it.

In 1969, 21-year-old Hillary Clinton gave a beautiful commencement speech. Now we can listen to it. More Hillary Clinton may be the presumptive Democratic nominee, but back in 1969 Hillary Rodham was just a Wellesley College senior getting ready for life after graduation. Hillary was chosen by her fellow students to deliver a speech on the occasion of their graduation, and her words (even as a 21-year-old) are profound and moving. Ruth Adams, the then-president of Wellesley, introduced Hillary (the school’s first student commencement speaker) lauding her academic achievements and her spirit by saying, “She is also cheerful, good humored, good company, and a good friend to all of us.” While the voice we hear on the recording is a much younger voice than the Hillary tone we’re used to in 2016, it’s clear that much of her philosophy is unchanged. “Part of the problem with just empathy with professed goals is that empathy doesn’t do us anything. We’ve had lots of empathy; we’ve had lots of sympathy, but we feel that for too long our leaders have viewed politics as the art of the possible. And the challenge now is to practice politics as the art of making what appears to be impossible possible.” [...]

200 men and women go topless in Brighton, UK for ‘Free the Nipple’ campaign (photos)

Hundreds of men and women have gone topless to stage a protest on one of Britain’s most popular beaches (Brighton) to ‘Free the Nipple’ and make boobs more acceptable in society. The campaign’s aim is to highlight social media policies over banning nipples. They want social media to allow women’s nipples to be visible. Despite the event, which held on Wednesday, being a success the group are already planning for another march in the upcoming campaign on August 28. The protesters marched from Brighton Pier to East Sussex city seafront before stopping on the beach where everyone sunbathed topless. The event was organised by comedian Samantha Pressdee, who came to Brighton with her one-woman comedy show about nudity and sexuality.Samantha said: ‘I’ve been a member of the Free The Nipple campaign over the past year. I joined the campaign to challenge the way women’s breasts were perceived. Breasts have been sexualised and the point of this campaign is that they don’t have to be sexual.’ We had a lovely time, loads of pictures were taken. We ended up relaxing on the beach, some people decided to go for a swim whilst others brought out their guitars’. PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT (Attitude): 7 ‘Weaknesses’ That Actually Benefit You

Because being too nice isn’t always a bad thing Our parents tell us to have a thicker skin, our teachers tell us laziness breeds contempt and our bosses tell us we’re just “too nice” to be a respected leader. It’s time to take a second look at these so-called weaknesses and re-evaluate their role in our lives. Some of the world’s greatest inventors procrastinated for years before ever pulling the trigger on their bright idea. Steve Jobs was known for his direct and sometimes brutal honesty—but you could always count on him to tell you like it is. Scroll through these seven character traits with a fresh eye and see how you can embrace yourweaknesses instead of fighting them. 1. Anxiousness I find myself awake at night worrying about what might happen in a particular situation or going through the “what-if’s.” Although this led to many missed nights of sleep, it has also helped me methodically work through some barriers and problems, looking at more angles than I would have if I hadn’t worried. I just have learned to worry about the right things and not everything. —Cynthia Johnson, American Addiction Centers 2. Laziness Bill Gates said, “I will always choose a lazy person to do a difficult job… because he will find an [...]
